New Goodies

A few goodies have arrived at my house recently and I took the time yesterday to snap a couple photos for you.

On the right (front) is "Yes We Can" by Mama E. I won that yarn in a raffle at the Knitter's for Obama board on Ravelry... after buying one skein of my own! Go figure. Behind that, is a skein of Loopy Legends, and a skein of Numma Numma (Cinnamon and Brown Sugar).

The photo at the top left is my latest Etsy treasure. That's my cell phone case and boyfriend wallet from Blissful. I had been looking for a wallet small enough to fit in my pocket for the trip to Washington, DC. Go check out Etsy if haven't been there. Handmade treasures galore!

Below is a test shot of my Log Cabin afghan in progress. Last night was Mayhem's spring program at school and I took the afghan along to work on as my mindless knitting. That was taken on my lap in a dimly lit gymnasium. Can I just say I love my new Nikon?!

Have a great weekend!

The Start...

Of a beautiful friendship...

Look at the detail in that dandelion! And check out Coco! She really is chocolate brown! Look at the detail in her fur. See her white whiskers? Wow. And her amber eyes.

This is going to be so much fun, friends.

Yay! The new, new camera works.

Waiting

I am waiting for new camera number two to charge. It seems I am supposed to face challenges in multiples this month; first with knitting College Kid's sock over and over, and now with my new camera.

Over the weekend, my new Nikon D40 was all put together and ready to go. Memory card inside? Check. Battery charged? Check. Lens properly attached? Check check. Click the button and... ERROR. "Press shutter release button to reset" Over and over. Not one single photo was accomplished on that camera. The manual told me that such an error message indicated the camera should be "sent to an authorized Nikon repair representative." Ummmmm, no. Not right out of the box.

After an exhausting day at school, I came home, carefully packed up the long-awaited for camera and went to exchange it. The salesman had to put it all back together and do everything I did, which resulted in his receiving the same error message.

Just like with the socks, I'm back to square one. I have to wait for the battery to charge before trying out the new, new camera.

And wouldn't you know it. Now it's almost dark outside.

I found Spring! (and some other things)

Isn't it lovely?

These were taken at Toledo Botanical Gardens. Buddy Bill and I had just come from the funeral home (a friend's father died) Friday afternoon and needed some sunshine. We found all the gorgeous daffodils in bloom.

I found the The Yarn Harlot in Ann Arbor last Friday night with knitter friends Sarah Lou and Becky. We had a great time. Once again, the Ann Arbor Library was packed with knitters having the biggest knitting party ever. Here's the Harlot:

And here's Sarah and Becky waiting in like to get books signed:

Some other things have been found in the past week: I find I am becoming quite proficient at knitting the toes of socks! College Kid's red and green socks have been so close to completion you wouldn't believe. On Tuesday, while at the pediatrician with my kids, I nearly finished the toe of sock 2, only to find that I started the toe too early. I frogged back, picked up the stitches and knit the toe again. This time I even go so far as to kitchener the toe shut. Yay! My joy was short-lived, however. While weaving in ends, I found a stitch back behind the toe area that had been dropped, probably when I frogged back and put stitches back on the needles. It had gotten lost in the k2p1 ribbing. ack!!
Today I will be un-grafting the toe and frogging back again, and repairing the dropped stitch so there won't be a hole. And then, I think maybe I'll knit a toe, just for kicks. I haven't done one in a day or so.
Before I forget, I found one more thing this week. A new camera. A Nikon D40. The photos above were all taken with my Kodak, so we shall see if anything changes.

Calling All Dog Lovers

Or all Yarnaholics!

My knitting friend Karen is having a raffle to raise money for the rescue organization where she adopted her dog. Vinnie incurred some big vet bills recently, and 4 Paws Sake covered his care because he was still considered a foster.

What can you win? WOLLMEISE. YARN PIRATE. YARNTINI.

Check out Karen's Knoobie Knitter Blog for the contest and pictures of prizes. You'll find a link to the rescue donation page and can donate directly to them via PayPal. The money goes straight to them!

Here's Vinnie! He says thanks!

Seeing Stripes

College Kid has a sock. Just one.

I finished it last night, and cast on for sock number two today. Now I'm missing a needle. Somewhere, around here, I have other dpn's that same size. Think I can find them? Not a chance. That's probably because my hands and wrists feel good enough to knit and I was really on a roll last night.

Go figure.
